Mmmm…fajitas! I wish I could do a Homer Simpson voice.

One of the best foods ever invented.

Oh happy day, we had leftover grilled chicken breast.  I’m so glad the little voices were prompting me to go buy some green peppers and a big ol’ onion.

I kept wandering off into the backyard while the veggies were cooking.  But they ended up perfect.  I swear they were almost creamy, a word that sounds cringe-worthy when attached to vegetables.  Honestly, it was good in this case.

I flung some fresh cilantro on top of those little tortilla boats.  Salsa and sour cream.  Cheese.  I powered down two of them.  I think the Mr. ate a couple, not sure, I was mighty focused.

The best part – Wednesday lunch is waiting.

Cheesecake is in the house! Oh darn, you don’t know where I live.

DSCN5456

It’s so exciting when it is finally time to unfurl a cheesecake.

I think I am going to photograph every cheesecake I make for the rest of my life.  It just feels like the heavens have opened up and all the angels are singing when I release that springform pan.

I swear this is the best cheesecake recipe in the world.  Go here to get it:  http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/perfect_cheesecake/

I know I talked about this at the first of the year.  But I made another one yesterday, and I am still enamored.  Takes a while to make, but damn!  It is seriously delicious!  I didn’t change a thing, but left off the cream cheese topping.  And I did make up my own fruity topping.

I couldn’t stand it last night, had to cut into it.  It could have used more time in the fridge, but that’s certainly not a deal-breaker.  Mmm mmm good.

Today my plan is to eat more cheesecake.  And pine over my Destiny.  And maybe organize my sewing room.

We should all start our day with a good laugh.

Backpack with a back, and a plea to save the crab and mac nut wontons!

Today is a good day, my backpack has a back.

I am so NOT a backpack kinda gal.  And the only reason I started this project, if you’re paying attention, is that I am trying to find the perfect travel bag.

Despite these disclaimers of mine, I think this thing is gorgeous, and I will carry it proudly.  I love the royal blue webbing I found for the adjustable part of the straps.

This sly beauty still has a secret…it is naked on the inside.

DSCN5362

I promise I will do the lining, with it’s fabulous pockets, and get it finished.  I’ll even find some unwilling subject to model it!

Part two of this little dissertation  doesn’t involve sewing.  Or cooking.  Pretty much just eating.  Eating this.

Crab and mac nut wontons.  My very favorite thing to eat at Duke’s here on Kauai.  The dipping sauce is wasabi and plum.  The darling Miss O and I went there for lunch today.  Our waitress told us that our fave food is being taken off the menu.  Whaaaa?  It is the top menu item here and in Waikiki, and it is coming off the menu.  Even the koi in the pond objected, showing their displeasure by jumping out of the water and slapping their fat koi flippers on the water.

What is wrong with the world?  Dammit, Duke’s, don’t take away my inspiration!

New and Improved! With cheesecake!

WARNING:  NO RESOLUTIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR.

I feel like starting out with guilty pleasures.  Edible treasures.  Yumminess in boundless measures.  I’m going to brag about the cheesecake I made for New Year’s eve.

Seriously delicious cheesecake

This gem turned out so pretty I could almost cry.  And it is possibly even tastier than it looks.  It was well worth the 23 hours of preparation.  Just kidding.  It didn’t take nearly that long.  I searched all over the interwebs for the perfect recipe, and here it is:

I love that it is even named “Perfect Cheesecake Recipe.”  Didn’t change a thing.  Except for the raspberry topping, a complicated concoction of frozen raspberries and sugar.  I am still enjoying it three days later.

For the nine of you that follow my blog, I hope you noticed my new title and address.  Changed it so it would match my Facebook page and my labels.  Thought about deleting all the previous posts and starting over.  Couldn’t really figure out how to do that, so I’ll just pretend they’re gone.

OK bye, I gotta go make some cool stuff.
